Australia's Naturally Good Expo, the largest trade show for the natural, organic and healthy products sector in the country, is set for a brighter future under new ownership and looking to fix the "samplers and sellers" issues at the 2017 event. The show was run for three years to 2017 by Brisbane's National Media and acquired by the international event and media company Diversified Communications the week before the June 2017 event.

The show gained satisfactory to mixed results for exhibitors over the last two to three years. A sample of organic and natural product exhibitors at Australia's Naturally Good Expo in 2017, surveyed by Organic & Wellness News, said they experienced a large number of people described as "consumers or samplers and sellers" at the event.

Exhibitors spoken with by Organic & Wellness News (63 percent) said the show met their expectations in terms of the numbers of and quality of buyers; 50 percent said they were happy with the business gained from the show; 50 percent were unhappy with the numbers of "consumers and samplers" on both days at the 2017 show; while 38 percent of exhibitors spoken with would have liked to have seen more buyers overall.

The open to all trend has increased at some 'trade-only' shows around the world where consumers, students, bloggers, and sample-seekers are often admitted.

The Naturally Good Expo started the 'sampling trend' in 2015 when it insisted that exhibitors supply thousands of costly small samples for visitors and media. At the 2016 event, the majority of exhibitors spoken with said there were too many sellers of products and distributors seeking products.

However, two-thirds of exhibitors spoken with by O.W.N. at the Naturally Good event in 2016 said that the show met their expectations and was happy with the show.

A Diversified Communications' spokesperson said it is certainly aware of the issues around the samplers that attended the 2017 show and is working on various solutions to reduce the amount of these people entering the show for 2018 and beyond.
