This year’s BIOFACH held in Nuremberg 12-14 February was a great success with exhibitors reporting that it was an even better show than last year for top retailer, wholesaler and buyer attendance, with more quality exhibitors and visitors and a fantastic atmosphere, despite a decrease in floor space.

Over 44,000 trade visitors from 136 countries travelled to this year’s annual get-together for the organic industry in Nuremberg.

“With a pleasing increase of 5% in visitor numbers (certified by the FKM, the Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics in Berlin), BIOFACH, the World’s leading Trade Fair for Organic Food, and VIVANESS, the International Trade Fair for Natural Personal Care, once again confirmed that Nuremberg is THE meeting place for the organic world,” the show organisers said.

Several exhibitors from the Netherlands and its organic industry group Bionext reported a good response from buyers at the fair as well.

“We always gain new customers from the show that helps us develop new markets, and get plenty of leads. The quality of the leads this year was better”, said Andy Van Ham of Riverside International Europe (Made Good Foods).

Petra Wolf, a member of NürnbergMesse’s management board, said: “Like the organic industry itself, BIOFACH and VIVANESS impressed with their diversity, quality and dynamism. Their economic and political relevance also sets them apart, as does their passion for the products presented. In addition to the nice increase in visitors, we are particularly happy about the great atmosphere in the exhibition halls. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!”

The 2015 Congress included more than 100 separate discussions and was attended by 7,000 interested listeners and participants. Taking place this year for the first time, the Politics Forum experienced particularly strong attention, drawing more than 1,000 visitors to its events. The discussion on the free trade agreement between the EU and the USA “TTIP – an opportunity or a threat to the organic industry” was especially popular.
