IFOAM – Organics International has announced the appointment of its next executive director, Louise Luttikholt, who will who will take responsibility for the role on 1 July 2018, while IFOAM and groups such as the US OTA, Oregon Tilth, and the Cornucopia Institute highlighted fraudulent labelling issues with the USDA's oversight of imports of organic grain and other organic products.

"We are delighted to announce that the next step of succession planning has been completed and that Louise Luttikholt will join IFOAM – Organics International as our next executive director," IFOAM said in March.

"Louise has been active in the organic movement for over 25 years and holds a Drs. (MSc) in Biology from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands.

"Since 2014, she has worked as the Director of HELVETAS Germany and Senior Advisor Sustainable Agriculture at HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation. Prior to this, Louise held various roles at Fairtrade International, IFOAM - Organics International, Biologica and others." 

This extensive professional experience in organic agriculture, fair trade, and development cooperation at a strategic, management and a regulatory level is matched by her strong personal passion for sustainability, IFOAM added.

Louise said: “I am honored and humbled to have been appointed by the World Board as the next executive director of IFOAM - Organics International. I am inspired by the work of the broad and diverse membership of IFOAM - Organics International and look forward collectively putting the new Strategy and Organic 3.0 further into action.”
