Every year, trade show company Next Organic organizes a unique start-up competition: Organic and sustainable food or retail start-ups from Germany or Austria can submit their product innovation or brand concept to a jury.
And the winning entries receive a broad range of prices: sample listings of product innovations in stores of the Bio Company or Super Bio Markt retail chains, financial consulting service with GLS Bank, marketing and networking support and a free exhibition stand at Next Organic's annual trade show Green Gastro Show.
2017 marks the third year of the Next Organic Start-up Awards. This year prices were awarded in seven categories: Manufacturers, Producers/Agricultural Projects, Service, Artisans, Social Enterprise, Food-Waste and Public Favourite (Facebook vote). The Awards took place on 1st June 2017 at the offices of Berlin-based foundation Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung. And the winners were:
Manufacturer: Feinschnabel Manufaktur (an artisan soup paste manufacturer from Bavaria)
Producer: Schickermooser Weidehähnchen (organic and sustainable poultry farming concept from the Sauerland region)
Artisan Producer: Zentrum für Fermentation (Leipzig-based company which offers food fermentation workshops)
Services: RECUP (Munich-based to-go-cup concept: customers pay a deposit for their cup and can return it at any participating café or restaurant across Germany)
Social Business: Fairafric (a beans-to-bar chocolate which is entirely manufactured in West Africa and then shipped to Germany for distribution)
Food-Waste: Unverschwendet (Vienna-based jam/chutney manufacturer which uses reclaimed fruit and vegetables)
Public Favourite: Nucao (a functional food snack bar based on raw cocoa and hemp seed, produced in Dresden)
