The 5th edition of Natural Products Scandinavia and Nordic Organic Food Fair, celebrated at the MalmöMässan in Malmo, Sweden, November 16-17, enjoyed record attendance. Almost 5,000 industry visitors registered, 25% more than in 2015. They were attracted to the latest innovations in the natural food and health sectors, provided by 375 exhibitors. More than 2,000 companies from 68 countries offered their products for display during the two-day event.
The show is still young and small, but it hosts the right people. This year more visitors not only from the Scandinavian and nearby European countries but also from Japan, the Middle East and the United States were present to explore the aisles and attend presentations of 27 expert speakers at the show’s three theatres.
There were national pavilions from KRAV (Sweden), Organic Denmark, Italy, Germany, Holland, the Baltics and a returning delegation from Spain.
Diversified Communications UK, the show organizer, indicated that most visitors were Swedish and Danish (68%), and included key buyers and managers Scandinavia’s biggest retailers, health stores, pharmacy chains, wholesalers and distributors, public kitchens, and supermarkets such as Aldi, Axfood, Coop Sverige, Coop Danmark, Dansk Supermarked, HKC Egenvård, ICA Sverige, Lidl, Life, Life Everkost, Netto, 7-Eleven, Svensk Cater, TJX Europe and Urtekram.
The Nordic Organic Chef Competitions showcased the culinary talents of top chefs from Scandinavia and Estonia. Håvard Klempe, who works at Credo in Trondheim, Norway, was crowned Nordic Organic Chef of the Year. Viktor Arabzadeh, from Upper House in Göteborg, Sweden, won Sweden’s Organic Chef of the Year, and the student team from Lycksele school in Tannbergskolan – Johanna Eliasson, Ebba Wilhelmsson and Moa Isaksson – were named Sweden’s Young Organic Chefs of the Year.
Featuring new launches from the last twelve months, the show’s two Natural & Organic Awards Showcases boasted a record 150 entries for 2016. The ten ‘Best new product’ winners (as voted for by visiting buyers), the Butikstrender Most Unique Product Award, plus the show’s two prestigious ‘Lifetime Achievement’ awards, were announced in the Natural Theatre at the close of opening day.

Natural Products Scandinavia and Nordic Organic Food Fair is a sister production of Natural & Organic §products Europe in London the UK and Natural Products Asia in Hong Kong. The next edition scheduled on November 15-16, 2017, expects over 400 exhibitors.
